If they fail the test, they are placed on the Non-Conforming Driver lists.

A word to the quick here. Some producers of second-rate knock-offs trumpet their drivers as being conforming pointing to the fact that their drivers are not on the non-conforming lists. All that translates to is that they haven't submitted their clubs for testing. Conforming drivers go on the conforming list. If a club isn't on the non-conforming list, that doesn't make it conforming.

Designing and creating conforming clubs takes a lot of skill and attention to details. Get the build process wrong by a fraction of a percent and the clubs could well end up being non-conforming. Size isn't the lone limit the rules make. With restrictions on club-face spring back for instance (the Coefficient of Restitution) potentially influenced by even a minimal discrepancy in thickness of the driver face, quality control during manufacturing is crucial.

Clone clubs from the main companies conform to the rules of the game and will be a lot easier on your wallet. Manufactured from the same materials as the big golf companies and with the same (or better) golf shafts, these are excellent golf clubs that will make your golf that much more satisfying. As a bonus, many of the big companies offer their clubs with custom fit options.

What you get is a set of premium, conforming, custom assembled golf clubs that will perform as good as, and usually a whole lot better, than those expensive off-the-rack OEM's. What you won't get is the price tag.

And that's not a bad result for a set of custom golf clubs.
